      My experiences with distance learning were eye-opening. I distance-learned for the entirety of my 9th grade year, and I was not a fan. The reason why I say it was eye-opening, though, is because the experience made me realize how accessible technology truly is nowadays when it comes to education. With nobody to tell me what to do and how to act with my schoolwork because I was at home, I had free range to use the Internet to my liking. During my time distance learning, I have used Microsoft 365 applications mostly.       While working on the Web Design assignment, I learned many new skills because I have never created a website before. I learned how to structure a website, make it visually appealing, make it easy to navigate, and how to embed accounts and a calendar to the website. I kept in mind the principles we learned in class when creating my website. I kept the font, colors, and sizes consistent and contrasting, I ensured that each text box and image was aligned appropriately, and I also ensured that nothing was too crowded on the website. What I liked about this assignment was how I could be creative and make the website look how I wanted it to. There's nothing I particularly disliked about the website assignment, as I had a lot of fun completing it. I can use the skills I learned through this assignment in my future career for if and when I need to make a website, or if I get the opportunity to teach others how to make a website.      On a school's website in the class pages, there are many helpful things that are provided to the public. The teacher's name and a small background is one thing that was very apparent. I think that this is important to include so that students and parents all have an idea of who their teacher is. Important dates and due dates are other things that are included on the class page. To keep the privacy of the school and classroom, I believe that what is provided is enough.     To accomplish my professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively, I plan on using technology for many things.       Blogging is something that I never thought I would do. However, it has been very interesting to see how easy it is to do, and how functional it is because everything is easily accessible and in one place. There's nothing that I can think of about how I don't like blogging, it's nice and easy! Something that I have learned during the blogging process so far is that it can be easy to go back and edit a published blog. This helps me to not worry about if I made any mistakes on my blog because I can always fix it.     A Web 2.0 tool that I can use as a teacher is YouTube ( https://www.youtube.com/).       My early experiences using social media tools for my Personal Learning Network was mainly on Instagram. I followed all my friends and people that I knew at my school. Posting on my story and being able to see other people post on their stories and pages helped me feel connected to people even when I wasn't physically seeing them. For my future, Instagram can be helpful for networking and messaging people.     Growing up, I went to a digitally rich charter school and public high school. We always had Chromebooks and smartboards that the teachers would use. I was fully prepared to use technology in college because of how much my schools relied on it for our education. If anything could have been done better to aid my learning using technology, I would say the prevention of cheating could have been addressed better.      The CPALMS standard that I chose was Standard 1 SC.2.HS.1 for the 2nd Grade. This standard encompasses that importance of having students be aware of what is safe to do on the internet, and what could be harmful to them or others. Additionally, the standard covers topics like online communication, privacy, and passwords. Based on my current skill set, I feel very prepared to implement this standard in a classroom because I am very familiar with preforming ethical and smart online practices.      Within the Educator Toolkit, I chose to look at the standards for 2nd Grade English Language Arts, and chose the standard ELA.K12.EE.4.1. This standard expects students to be able to communicate with their peers using "collaborative techniques and active listening skills."       Copyright and fair use are going to be lingering concepts once I am a teacher trying to use resources to teach my students. I will always be sure to give credit to whoever the author is of the work that I wish to use. I think that my students should also understand these two concepts so that stealing doesn't occur. I hope that once I am a teacher, I can be creative in my own way to create classroom resources for my students.     Cyberbullying was not that large of an issue when I was younger, but it is now with the ever-growing implementation of technology in everything we do. As a teacher, I will promptly introduce the issue of cyberbullying to my students and show them examples of what it is. I think using a matching activity of what counts as cyberbullying and what doesn't to further understand students' understanding of the concept could be helpful.      As my time as a student, MS Word has been something that I've consistently utilized for many things. I desperately prefer MS Word over things like Notepad or Google Docs because of the features that MS Word offers. I am very comfortable using MS Word over those other platforms, and I think it is very easy to navigate, as well. MS Word has aided me with creating countless essays, research papers, assignments, and more.      In this class, I hope to learn about the ways that teachers use technology in the classroom. There are so many applications out there, and I hope that this class can scope out the most effective ones that teachers should use. Especially with the growing influence of technology, I think that this class is important for future educators, like myself, to be able to familiarize themselves with important technologies that can be utilized in the classroom.
