Blog Post #5

My early experiences using social media tools for my Personal Learning Network was mainly on Instagram. I followed all my friends and people that I knew at my school. Posting on my story and being able to see other people post on their stories and pages helped me feel connected to people even when I wasn't physically seeing them. For my future, Instagram can be helpful for networking and messaging people.

Growing up, I went to a digitally rich charter school and public high school. We always had Chromebooks and smartboards that the teachers would use. I was fully prepared to use technology in college because of how much my schools relied on it for our education. If anything could have been done better to aid my learning using technology, I would say the prevention of cheating could have been addressed better. Classmates in the past and currently are corrupted by using the Internet to cheat, and it makes collaboration a bit difficult.

I would like to implement software like Canva and Padlet into my future classroom. These platforms allow for real-time collaboration between students and the teacher while using a diverse set of features. A lesson that I might use the tools to support would probably be if I was having students read about the different goals of education, I would use Canva to show a graphic with the different goals and have students put their names where they believe is the better goal. Padlet can be used for students to answer questions together all in one place.
